American Airlines offers a straightforward cancellation policy for award tickets booked with miles. If you need to cancel an award ticket, you can do so without losing your miles. In most cases, you can cancel and have your miles re-deposited into your account for a small fee, unless you cancel within the 24-hour booking window. Additionally, if American Airlines cancels your flight, you are eligible for a refund of your miles and any associated taxes or fees. To cancel an award ticket, simply log in to your AAdvantage account and go to “My Trips.”
